Dining Reviews: Resorts

Boardwalk Joe's Marvelous Margaritas
I love going to the Boardwalk and walking round. At night is even better. I love to sit and watch the fireworks from Epcot. Even better with a margarita in my hand. This is the Watermelon Margarita and it is amazing!

Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge)
This buffet is huge!! So many great things to try! It's all african themed. One of my favs was the hummus and falafel! I'd never had falafel and it was so so good. Our daughter chowed down, and our son did, too! And I had to have a Zebra Dome, since everyone had raved about them! Tasty!

Chef Mickey's (Contemporary)
This is a super fun character meal. The characters are great and they seem to spend a lot of time with the kids. And then the music stars and everyone swings their napkins int he air and the kids dance around. Very fun! Breakfast is typical: bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal, fruit, etc...nothing really out of this world. Biscuits and gravy were yummy...probably my favorite part. We love dinner there. It's a nice mix of entrees for everyone.

End Zone Food Court (All Star Sports Resort)
We usually eat at our resort's food court on arrival day. They all have the basic stuff, burgers and nuggets, pizza. Three of us went with the create your own pasta--all alfredo--which comes with your choice of meat, a breadstick and a salad. Hubby and I had chicken, daughter had meatballs. My son got a kids pizza meal, which came with two sides. He chose a breadstick and jello. It was all good!

Everything Pop (Pop Century)
I like the convenience of being able to get a quick meal at the resort, especially on departure day. I ordered the Chicken Penne Alfredo, with low expectations, and OMG...I was completely shocked at how good it was!!! The chicken had a real nice crispyness to it and the sauce was much better than expected! Hubby had a Mediterranean flat bread and liked it. I had the tie-dye cheescake for dessert and it was real good...liked the red velvet cake on the bottom!

Hoop Dee Doo Revue (Fort Wilderness Campground)
I’d been real excited to do this and had been wanting to for a few years. We arrived super early and walked around the Fort Wilderness resort a bit-- very cute! We had our picture taken and lined up for seating. We were seated not long after the doors opened. It was so cool inside and even though we booked category 2 seating, which was supposed to be either the outer edge of floor toward the back, or upstairs, we were seated on the side almost to the front. We had a great view of everything! The cornbread was amazing and I had to stop myself because I knew there was tons more awesome food to come. The salad was great, the chicken and ribs good too. Potatoes were yummy. The beans were so so...I’ve had better. I had the sangria and wow it packed a punch!! Very tasty! The show was fantastic. We all really enjoyed it!! And the strawberry shortcake for dessert was very good!! I think my kid’s favorite part was playing the washboard. Such a fun time!! Would definitely do this again!!!

Landscapes of Flavor (Art of Animation)
We were super impressed with the counter service here! It's set up just as all other value resort food courts, but the selections are just more unique. I went for the Tandoori Portuguese Sausage platter and it was fantastic! It came with rice and Naan and I picked two sides- roasted cauliflower and some kind of lentil dish. Hubby had the pulled pork meal and really liked it (I had a taste and it was good!) Our daughter went for the kids salad meal and got to add some fun toppings to it. Our son had a cheese pizza- the typical Disney kids pizza meal. Desserts were awesome- so many cool things to pick from! I had a mini cupcake 4 pack- red velvet, chocolate, carrot cake and a white with lemon. YUM! Hubby had chocolate-covered rice krispie bites.

Sausage meal! YUM!
Pulled pork meal.

Ohana (Polynesian Resort)
This is one of our favorite places to eat. The food is just awesome. The meal is served family style. At dinner, they bring multiple platters to the table: salad, wontons, chicken wings, veggies, noodles. The meat is grilled on an open flame and you can watch them cook it! The servers come to your tale with 3ft skewers and give you whatever you want. Kids are offered an alternative kid's meal if they do not want what's offered. They brought my son a grilled cheese sandwich once and he devoured it. The kids always love Ohana for the games and dancing! The coconut races are a blast and our daughter enjoys hula-ing! Breakfast is more traditional fare, but with a little bit of a Polynesian flare. Very tasty. And there are characters at Breakfast! Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch.

Not a great photo of the food, but you can see the wings, veggies and noodles.

1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian)
A great character meal! You can meet Cinderella and her price, as well as her stepmother and step sisters. The stepsisters are hilarious! They really stay in character and are so much fun. Both my kids loved dancing with Anastasia. And Lady Tremaine, she is so good! Very stern and serious. Cinderella is sweet of course. The food is pretty good there, not spectacular, but I think I prefer it to some of the other character dinner buffets.

Spirit of Aloha Polynesian Luau (Polynesian Resort)
"Wow" is all that comes to mind when I think of this meal. We were on the Dining Plan and booked the category 2 seating, using two table service credits. We ended up with a fantastic table for two right at the edge of the stage/performance floor. I ordered a glass of chardonnay since it was all included in the price. The appetizer platter was brought out. The bread was tasty, though I would have liked a little butter or something to help with the dryness. The pineapple was delish and the salad so so tasty! I had to hold myself back because I knew a whole bunch more food was coming. Then the waitress brought our huge plate of food. I could not believe how much they brought for just the two of us. The chicken was very good and the ribs...OMG! Probably the best I've ever had! The rice was very tasty and the veggies good too...a bit cold, but it was really windy that day, so they cooled fast. Dessert was a volcano of chocolate mousse and chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. So tasty! The show itself was entertaining...but when we go back, it will be more for the food!!

Trattoria al Forno (Boardwalk)
All I can say is WOW! The Bon Voyage Breakfast is so fun! You'll meet Ariel and Eric and Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Then there's the food. everyone starts with a pastry platter, which is actually an iron skillet, and fruit salad. Then comes the enter. Oh my gigantic! I had King Triton's Shipwrck al Forno, which was basically a gigantic breakfast calzone served with marinara. Which I thought was odd but it was really good. I barely ate half. Overall, it was an amazing experience.

For dinner there are no characters, but the menu is amazing. I had the Polpetta Gigante...basically a giant meatball with pasta and sauce. So good!!

Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge)
Another one of our favorites! I love the rustic-ness of the decor and the food is amazing. I always get the skillet. Love me some BBQ! We went with ribs, steak, and chicken to start and got some sausage and fish later on. Beans are yummy and the potatoes so so good! I was excited for the dessert sampler, but worried when I saw the size of it. It was pretty small for a table of four adults. But the quantity ended up working well. Cake and buckle were good. The cheesecake was just so so. The Moonshine Margarita is good!! Breakfast is great, too. They have a breakfast skillet with all kinds of yummy offerings. I'm a sucker for biscuits and gravy. There are a la carte offerings, too. My dining companion got the banana bread french toast and it was good!! But the best part of this place is the hooting' and hollering'! It's loud and fun. the kids get to run around and play games. The servers are so fun. Make sure you ask for ketchup!!

Yummy food!
Yummy drink!
